MAGNETIC NUCLEAR RESONANCE

If we consider a sample of a rich hydrogen atoms liquid - as an hydrocarbon – in absence of a magnetic field, the protons are aligned in any directions

If the protons are placed in a magnetic field B0, the force applied to its magnetic momentum induces a precession along the axis of this external field.

Note that two orientations are possible: parallel and anti-parallel.
