Astrix 120 is an
Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) composed of 4
Fiber Optic Gyros for space use, mounted on a tetrahedral structure for redundancy.
It is designed for the Attitude and Orbit Control System of scientific satellites, with a performance class of 0,01°/h. This space IMU has been designed in close cooperation with
Astrium under CNES and
ESA funding.
"The IXSEA FOG technology offers numerous advantages for space applications: it is a solid state technology with no life-limited items; it offers a high reliability with a small amount of component sand no embedded software. It offers outstanding performance, in particular very low noise.
Thanks to its versatility, it is adapted to the space environment and is very easy to operate with an exceptional failure coverage" says Gerard Muller of Astrium.
