ACOUSTIC POSITIONING SYSTEM

GAPS, or Global Acoustic Positioning System, is a precalibrated underwater system which tracks all targets with very high accuracy even in difficult environments in deep (up to 4000m) and extremely shallow waters. GAPS combines Ultra Short Base Line (USBL), GPS and inertial navigation technologies. It enables tracking of subsea vehicles such as sonar towed systems or mine-hunting Autonomous Unmanned Vehicles (AUV) or Mine Killers, in addition to diver positioning
FEATURES
  • No calibration required
  • 4,000 m range, accuracy 0.2% of the slant range*, 200 deg coverage
  • All-in-one system, simple to use
  • Provides absolute position as well as surface GPS-robust position
BENEFITS
  • Calibration-free no mobilization time required
  • Compact & portable
  • Easy to use
  • Robust to GPS drop out
APPLICATIONS A system for tracking torpedo and sonar towed systems and the positioning of divers and Autonomous Unmanned Vehicles (AUVs).
